Plagiarism Screening
Jurnal Ilmu Fisika (JIF) is committed to publishing original research and maintaining the integrity of the scholarly record. This policy supplements the journal's existing Publication Ethics, Intellectual Property, and Allegations of Misconduct policies.
Originality and author responsibilities
Manuscripts submitted to JIF must be original, must appropriately acknowledge all sources, and must not be under consideration by another journal. Authors must cite reused ideas, wording, data, figures, and methods as appropriate, and disclose relevant overlapping publications, including their own earlier work.
Similarity screening
JIF includes a manuscript similarity check using Turnitin in its publication workflow, as stated on the journal's Article Publication Charges page. Similarity reports are screening aids rather than automatic proof of plagiarism. Editors evaluate any significant overlap in context, considering correctly quoted or referenced text, standard technical terminology, methods descriptions, and bibliographic entries.
Assessment and editorial action
When potentially inappropriate overlap is identified, the editorial team may request an explanation, supporting documents, or a corrected manuscript. Depending on the findings and the stage of processing, the journal may require revision or reject a submission. Allegations concerning published articles are handled under JIF's existing Allegations of Misconduct and Post-publication Discussions and Corrections policies, and may lead to a correction, expression of concern, or retraction where justified.
Fair process
Editors assess concerns on the basis of evidence and provide the authors an opportunity to respond before reaching an editorial decision, where practicable. No fixed similarity percentage is treated as an automatic acceptance or rejection threshold; the nature and significance of any overlap determine the decision.
